Are You Giving for God… or for Applause? | Matthew 6:1–4

What if the good things you’re doing for God don’t count the way you think they do? In Matthew 6:1–4, Jesus gives a shocking warning during the Sermon on the ...Mount. He says that people who perform acts of generosity to be seen by others have already received their reward. In other words, their charity may look impressive to the world but it means nothing in God’s eyes.

This message explores the deeper issue Jesus is addressing: our motives. Why do we give? Why do we serve? Why do we help others?

Jesus isn’t just concerned with what we do, He cares about why we do it.

In a world where generosity is often broadcast on social media and good deeds are publicly celebrated, Jesus calls His followers to a different kind of righteousness; quiet, humble, and focused on God’s glory instead of human applause.

In this sermon we explore:
1. Why Jesus warned against public displays of charity
2. How pride can corrupt even good deeds
3. What it means to give with the right heart
4. Why God rewards humility over recognition
